New iPod... New Pains.

Wed Aug 6, 2008, 2:21 PM
For the past three years I've used a 5th generation iPod Video, 30 gig, black. It served me well until around last Christmas when I noticed that sound wouldn't come out of the right earphone unless I pressed on the base of the jack. It wasn't long until I found out that one of the contact plates in the iPod was broken. I could live with it, though it was a pain in the ass (and the hand) having to press down on the jack just to make sound come out of both earbuds. After a while I decided to see what I needed to do to have it replaced. After a half hour on hold trying to contact Apple, the first thing I'm told is, "Sir, you realize your phone tech support and hardware support have expired... over a year ago?" After asking how much it'd cost to have a piece of metal smaller than confetti replaced, I found it would be about $130.
Needless to say, fuck that.
So instead, I decided to put in about $130 extra and just buy a new iPod. It was a better deal after all; current generation, more than double the memory, shiny and new, and a fresh screen without the dead pixels that were slowly accumulating on mine.
Now the fun part. I couldn't move all the songs from my music folders on the desktop, no that'd be too easy. Instead, iTunes stops working on that one so I'm stuck moving songs about half a gig at a time from desktop to laptop with my flash drive, a process that took most of yesterday. After that, I find that, of course, all the id3 tags have been reset, meaning I need to rename every song, artist, album, etc. by hand. I finished the first pass of that yesterday and am still doing it at my own pace. And since I just HAVE to take advantage of the new cover flow feature, I'm stuck loading cover art onto one song at a time, close to 1300 songs.
Frustration is the best way to describe the situation.

It should also be mentioned that I hate Apple. I know I'm changing gears from "let's hear about my life" blogging to "everyone cares about my opinion" blogging, and both are shit nobody cares about, but bear with me. I find that Apple takes advantage of the general public, being the oh-so-exploitable people they are, and plays up the image of being hip and popular ad nauseum. As a result, you get idiots standing in line at 3 in the morning for an iPhone that costs them a leg to get. Apple seems to make their profit of impulsive buyers, hell I'll admit that I've fallen victim to it. After my first iPod, my 4gig Mini, was stolen, the video came out not long after and I jumped on it when it was still $400. In hindsight, a huge mistake seeing that I just got double the memory for about two thirds the price. I seldom buy from Apple, I refuse to use iTunes unless there is absolutely no other way to get the song I want, and in the past I've only bought three things from them, my iPods. Each time I buy one, I do it with resentment. I hate having to contribute to a company that I have such dislike for, and despite how little I've bought from them, I've given them close to 1000 dollars of my money, more than I've ever wanted them to get from me. Hopefully this iPod will last a long time so I won't need to contribute to those manipulators anymore...

TL;DR: Fuck you Apple, I hate you.

i just wanna say, i wouldn't be critisizing my work. i would never say anything bad about yours, in fact, it's rather good. but i happen to have more deviations, more page views, and more suscribers than you. plus i am older. i would wish that you wouldn't be so ignorant as to critisize someone who has a different artistic style than you. as artists we must respect each other. if i get one more bad remark from you, i will report you. now let us please start a new, and be nice. you are a good photographer.

LIFE SUCKS.

This is true, but you can't beat yourself up about it. It's not your fault life isn't fair, so why punish yourself? Stop crying, throw away your razors, get out of that corner and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Live your life to its fullest!

Only on deviantART do pageviews and subscribers have the value of gold. Those factors plus your age and the number of deviants you have are completely irrelevant to what you're doing and my criticisms of what you consider "art." There are plenty of ways to boost pageviews and subscribers such as posting excessive amounts of deviations, favoriting works ad nauseum, and subscribing to dozens of other people. It's really not that difficult.
To say that posting avitars made over IMVU is art is like saying a recolored picture is original art; it's not. Not only do they require minimal effort to create, the original idea belongs to someone else. It takes about as much effort for me to change the channels of my TV as it takes you to make one of your avitars that you haphazardly brand "art."
Save yourself the effort of reporting me and just add me to your blocked users list, as that's what the staff will have you do if you can't handle what I have to say.

Oh... and thank you for the compliment.

i tried to be nice and respect you, but i guess you're just another one of those people who don't have the word "respect" in their vocabulary. you have made me very upset. i wish you'd be nice to me. i really don't understand what your problem is, but there is something wrong with you. please don't do to other people what you did to me, or else people will not like you. be nice, be respectful, and you may find yourself very happy.

Thanks for the fav... as to your apreciation of Poe; I'm local to his home town. Should you ever make it to Baltimore; be sure to visit his home and grave. Very interesting stuff.
:iconbeyondxabilities:
Likewise.
My Honors Engilsh 2 teacher was a big Poe enthusiast and has seen his grave several times, it piqued an interest in me. It will definitely be on my list of sights to see when I make a trip to the east coast.
